Dortmund boss celebrates hat-trick hero
After a bad effort in Portugal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stepped up with a hat-trick in the return clash against Benfica.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the greatest experience when Dortmund handled Portuguese Benfica in the Champions League wednesday night. He stood for a hat-trick in the 4-0 victory and guaranteed the Germans a comprehensive victory after a 0-1 defeat in the first leg in Portugal.
German coach Thomas Tuchel, was glad that it was the gabonese, which lowered Benfica. – It was the perfect time for “Auba” making hat-trick, says Thomas Tuchel after the battle.
“It was a sensational performance. I love goal as his first, because they require good timing, and “Auba” is always there with his nose for goal”, adds the coach. Wednesday’s hat-trick was revenge for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. In the first meeting against Benfica the striker missed a number of obvious scoring opportunities, including a penalty.
The gabonese has scored 28 goals this season for Dortmund. It is the first time since 2013/2014 that the team is among the last eight of the Champions League.
Christian Pulisic also scored in the game, that was the first Champions League goal for the 18-year-old American, who replaced an injured Marco Reus. In addition to his scoring Pulisic also did an assist to Aubameyangs opening goal in the fourth minute of the match.
